Appointments should be made as far in advance as possible.  Be sure to indicate any medical conditions you may have, as some treatments may not be appropriate for you.  Specify your preference for a male or female therapist.  This is also the time to inquire about applicable charges, should you need to cancel your session.

Arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes prior to your appointment so you can enjoy an unhurried transition into the spirit of the spa experience.

Attire should be appropriate to the activities you are planning:  light, comfortable clothing for stretching sessions, sneakers for exercise class.  For many body treatments, it is customary to undress completely; the therapist will drape and undrape parts of your body as needed.  However, the spa experiene is about serenity and relaxation - disrobe to your level of comfort.

Cancellations should be made as far in advance as possible.  It is wise to inquire about any cancellation fees or penalties at the time of your reservations.

Cell phones do not belong in the spa - and should be left in your room.  Be considerate of others.  Time in the spa should be peaceful and serene.

Children - especially those under 16 - should not be brought to the spa, unless treatments for youngsters are specifically offered.

Communication with the therapist is important.  All aspects of treatment can be modified to suit you, including lighting levels, music, room temperature, and whether you choose to have a conversation or enjoy the treatment in silence.  Discuss the type of procedure, and any concerns you may have.  If at any time during the treatment you experience discomfort, tell the therapist.  If you want the therpist to give you a deep massage, or be gentler, let him or her know.

Conversation in shared areas should be kept to a minimum.

Eating and drinking just prior to treatments is not recommended.

Gratuities may or may not be included in the cost of the treatment.  Inquire when making your appointment.  The amount you choose to leave will depend on your level of satisfaction; however, 10 to 20% is customary, and it can be left in an envelope with the receptionist as you depart.  If you have had multiple services from different people (a massage therapist, a facial esthetician, etc.) leave a separate tip for each of them.

Valuables should be left in your in-room safe or in the hotel's safe-deposit boxes.
